National News: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will visit France next week, where he will meet the French leadership and discuss further strengthening diplomatic, security, and defense cooperation between the two countries. The visit is taking place at a time when India is increasing harmony with Western countries, especially France and America, to strengthen the alliance against terrorism on the global stage and increase its role in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
France has been one of the major strategic partners of India for decades. France's support is especially important in the fight against terrorism. During the recent operation vermilion, French Rafale aircraft played a decisive role in preventing Pakistan's terrorist attacks from 8 to 10 May. The incident has brought cooperation in the defense sector between the two countries to a new height.
France not only supports India against terrorism, but also stands firmly in favor of India's permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council. Recently, France handled the monthly presided over the UNSC and gave a clear message to support India on issues related to global peace and security. France said that in view of the current global scenario, there is a need to improve the Security Council and India should get permanent membership.
India is jointly working with western countries, especially America, to prevent Pakistan's terrorist bases and its political antics. The US is an important permanent member of the UNSC and its role in India's diplomatic efforts is important. The visit of Jaishankar is expected to give more strength to India's strategic alliance with America and France.
At the same time, Russia also remains an important ally of India on Kashmir and terrorism issues. India's diplomatic front is further strengthened by Russia's support in India's favor in UNSC. India is trying to stop Pakistan's increasing international activities with the support of these three countries.
Jaishankar will meet French Foreign Minister and other top officials in Paris. They can also address the India-France Track 1.5 dialogue held in Marsile, which is being held in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation. The purpose of this dialogue is to promote mutual understanding in political, economic and security sectors between the two countries.
In February 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an Indian embassy in Marsile with French President Emmanuel Macron, which deepens diplomatic relations between the two countries. In addition, a team of Indian MPs also went on a visit to France last month, which took several important initiatives towards promoting India-France cooperation.
Foreign Minister S. This visit of Jaishankar is an important step for India in global diplomacy. The journey will prove to be an opportunity to increase cooperation in the struggle against terrorism and to strengthen India's permanent membership efforts in the United Nations Security Council. Increasing friendship with France and strategic partnership are expected to strengthen India's global status.
