New Delhi: Amid recent US-Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran's retaliation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and reiterated the need for an "early cessation of hostilities".
In the statement, PM Modi expressed deep concerns over the recent conflict in the Middle East and reiterated the need for an early de-escalation of the hostilities.
Taking to X, PM Modi shared details of the conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that, "Had a telephone call with PM Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the current regional situation. Conveyed India’s concerns over recent developments and emphasised the safety of civilians as a priority. India reiterates the need for an early cessation of hostilities."
Amid the attacks by Iran on the UAE, Prime Minister Modi on Sunday spoke with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sharing details of the conversation, PM Modi in a post on X, said, "Spoke with President of the UAE, my brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and condoled the loss of lives in these attacks. India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times."
"Thanked him for taking care of the Indian community living in the UAE. We support de-escalation, regional peace, security and stability," Modi added.
On Sunday, PM Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, in the national capital after returning from a two-day tour of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The meeting was gathered to hold talks on the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, and to take stock of the situation after the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader.
