National News: This is a historic and proud moment for India. Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla has created history by becoming the first Indian to step aboard the International Space Station (ISS). He reached the ISS aboard the Dragon spacecraft, along with astronauts from the United States, Poland, and Hungary, where he received a warm and heartfelt welcome from the crew.

“I’ve brought the Tricolor; I’ve brought all of you with me.”

Speaking emotionally upon arrival at the ISS, Shubhanshu said, This is the most memorable and meaningful moment of my life." I’ve brought the Tricolor here and, with it, my entire country. The next 14 days are an opportunity to contribute to science and research and serve the nation."

He also mentioned the physical effects of space travel, including a heavy feeling in the head and mild imbalance, but emphasized that these were temporary adjustments that would be managed soon.

14-Day Scientific Mission in Space

During the 14-day mission aboard the ISS, Shubhanshu and his fellow astronauts will conduct multiple scientific experiments. They also plan to interact directly with students and scientists on Earth. This mission represents not only a scientific milestone for India but also a significant step toward international space collaboration.

Shubhanshu added, "This mission is not just my journey—it represents the journey of India as a whole." We aim to contribute to science and also promote a message of peace and cooperation in space.”

A New Chapter After Rakesh Sharma

India’s first astronaut, Rakesh Sharma, traveled to space in 1984 on a Soviet mission and spent eight days in Earth’s orbit. Now, decades later, Shubhanshu Shukla becomes the first Indian to board the International Space Station as part of a global team, marking a new era in India’s space legacy.

Part of the Axiom-4 Mission

Shubhanshu’s mission is part of Axiom-4, an international spaceflight led by experienced American astronaut Peggy Whitson. The crew also includes Tibor Kapu from Hungary and Slavoj Ujnanski-Wisniewski from Poland. After a 28-hour journey in the Dragon spacecraft, the four-member team successfully docked at the ISS.

Upon arrival, Commander Whitson presented Shubhanshu with a “space pin,” officially recognizing him as the 634th astronaut in history.

Shubhanshu Shukla’s achievement goes beyond personal success—it stands as a powerful symbol of national pride and inspiration. It shows that India is not only contributing to space exploration but is also emerging as a leader on the global stage. His journey will inspire a new generation of scientists, dreamers, and explorers to reach for the stars.
