Sindarwani village in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag faces severe landslides and sinking ground after heavy rains. Cracks in many houses have raised fears of another Joshimath-like crisis, with villagers demanding urgent help.

National News: These days, people of Sindarwani village in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand are living in the shadow of terror. They are unable to sleep at night. The villagers are constantly looking at the huge cracks and landslides in their houses. There is a landslide in the village from above, and the ground is sinking below. This village of Rudraprayag district comes under Agastyamuni development block. In the disaster of 2013 also, landslides and cracks were seen in some parts of the village, in which four to five families came in danger.

Sindarwani Village Faces Complete Destruction

In 2013, only 4 to 5 houses had developed cracks, but this time due to the continuous heavy rains, the houses, farms, barns, schools and cowsheds of the entire village have developed cracks. Along with this, the ground has completely settled down in many places. Schools and houses have been completely damaged. They can fall anytime. People are worried. The villagers are pleading with the government to relocate us to a better place so that we can live our lives comfortably.

Villagers are pleading for help

We should be helped by surveying the village. Every person in Sindarwani village is facing the brunt of the disaster at this time. The villagers say that we are very troubled, no one is coming forward to help us. We are worried about what will happen to us. Everything is happening in front of our eyes. Many horrific pictures and photographs of the incident have surfaced, in which large cracks are visible in houses, roads and schools. The villagers are afraid that their village may become Joshimath.

Danger increased in the village after the rain

The situation has become so dire that these buildings can collapse anytime. A large part of the village has collapsed due to the landslide. People are appealing to the government and administration for help to save their lives. The danger is increasing further due to rain. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for rain during the next 24 hours for Kumaon division. In this regard, there may be rain in Champawat, Dehradun, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts in the next 24 hours.

58 roads closed

A total of 58 roads have been closed in Kumaon division so far. Efforts are being made to open them, but due to continuous rain, the roads could not be opened. Kumaon Commissioner has instructed all DMs that as soon as the rain stops a bit, the work of opening the closed roads should be started on a war footing. So that the traffic system can run smoothly. The Commissioner said that the water level of Gaula River and Sharda River is continuously rising.

The most important road in Kumaon, Haldwani Nainital road is closed near Dolmar. Haldwani Almora road is closed near Quarab. Apart from this, the road from Dharchula to Tawaghat is closed at three places, efforts are being made by the concerned departments to open them.
