National News: The Indian Army has once again achieved a major success against terrorism in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The army, which is constantly keeping an eye on terrorist activities, killed two terrorists under Operation Shivshakti. Earlier, three terrorists were killed under Operation Mahadev. This is the second major action of the army within three days, which shows its vigilance and the strength of the intelligence system. Home Minister Amit Shah has also mentioned this success of the army in Parliament.

Army Foils Poonch Infiltration, Kills Two

The army already had intelligence input that some terrorists were planning to infiltrate the Poonch sector. As soon as these terrorists were trying to cross the LoC, alert soldiers took action and killed both of them. These terrorists have been identified as belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba. The Indian Army did not suffer any loss during the operation, and the safety of local citizens was also ensured.

Huge Weapons Cache Found Amid Battle Preparations

Many items, like two assault rifles, grenades, pistols, IEDs, medicines, and communication devices, have been recovered from the slain terrorists. This clearly shows that they had come prepared for a long encounter. According to Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sunil Barthwal, this action was taken on the basis of completely solid intelligence information.

Why was it named 'Operation Shivshakti'?

The Budha Amarnath Yatra is organized in the Poonch region, and this area is considered important from a spiritual point of view. That is why this operation was named 'Shivshakti.' Earlier, the operation in Srinagar was named 'Mahadev' because it took place near Mahadev Ridge. The army gives a code name to every major operation so that there is no confusion during the operation, and its importance can also be shown.

When is the name of the operation given?

According to army sources, when there is a sudden infiltration attempt on the LoC and the soldiers take action on the spot, it is usually not given any name. These are immediate reactions that are done without any prior planning. But when the operation is planned in advance on the basis of any solid intelligence, then a code name is decided for it. Because in such operations, officers and soldiers are involved at different levels, and clear identification is necessary to maintain coordination.

Why are code names given?

Code names are used so that there is no confusion in communication. As soon as the name of an operation is mentioned, everyone immediately understands which area or mission is being talked about. Usually the name of the operation is related to the geographical, historical, or religious identity of that area, which also reflects its importance. The purpose of choosing such a name is that both the objective of the operation and its location can be easily identified.
