Indore Murder Case: Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi, newlyweds from Indore, embarked on a honeymoon to Meghalaya’s scenic hills, brimming with dreams of a shared future. On June 9, 2025, after her arrest in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, Sonam confessed to orchestrating her husband’s murder, unveiling a motive that has stunned investigators and the public alike.
During interrogation at Nandganj police station, Sonam revealed that her illicit relationship with Raj Kushwaha, a close acquaintance, drove her to plan Raja’s killing. She admitted to hiring three contract killers, with Kushwaha allegedly masterminding the plot. The motive, rooted in her desire to escape the marriage and pursue her affair, paints a chilling picture of betrayal. Confessions from arrested accomplices corroborated her account, detailing how the group lured Raja to the remote gorge, where he was attacked with a machete on May 23.
Sonam’s disappearance after the murder sparked a 17-day manhunt across states. Meghalaya Police, aided by a Special Investigation Team, followed leads from a tourist guide’s sighting and hotel CCTV footage. On June 8, Sonam surfaced at Kashi Dhaba in Ghazipur at 1 AM, contacting her brother via video call. The dhaba owner’s alert to police via 112 led to her swift surrender, ending her evasion and exposing the truth behind Raja’s death.
Sonam’s father, Devi Singh, disputes her guilt, demanding a CBI probe, while Raja’s family seeks justice. The confession has ignited debates about trust and relationships, with the case gripping India. As Sonam awaits transfer to Meghalaya for trial, her admission unravels a tale of love turned lethal, leaving lingering questions about the depths of human motives and the pursuit of justice.
