New Delhi: Security agencies have exposed a big espionage network in Delhi-NCR. Ghaziabad Police have arrested six people of an alleged espionage gang linked to Pakistan. It is alleged that these people used to make pictures and videos of Delhi and surrounding sensitive areas and send them to Pakistan. According to the investigating agencies, the activities of the accused were suspicious for a long time and they were being tracked. After the arrest, the search for other people associated with this network has also been started.

Where did the arrests take place?

According to the police, during this action, five accused were caught from Bhowapur area of Ghaziabad, while a woman was detained near Anand Vihar border. Initial investigation has revealed that the accused were living and working in different areas of Ghaziabad and Delhi-NCR. Police say they had received intelligence input that some people were sharing sensitive information with foreign contacts.

How did they send the information?

Investigation has revealed that the accused used to make photographs and videos of military bases, railway stations and other important places in Delhi. After this, these materials were sent to their contacts in Pakistan through mobile phones and internet. Police have recovered several mobile phones from the accused, in which suspicious videos and evidence of conversations with foreign numbers have been found.

What evidence did the police find?

After the arrest, the police have recovered eight mobile phones from the accused. Many such videos and pictures have been found in these mobiles, in which sensitive places of Delhi-NCR are visible. Apart from this, indications of chats and transactions with foreign numbers have also been found. Now all these devices have been sent for forensic investigation so that it can be found out how big the scope of this network.

Were people joining because of greed for money?

During interrogation, the police came to know that people associated with the gang were lured into this work by luring them with money. Some accused have confessed that they were paid money in exchange for sending sensitive information. The investigating agencies believe that some people sitting abroad were in constant touch through this network and through this the entire network was being operated.

What are the legal actions and further investigations?

The police have registered a case against all the accused under various sections of the Indian Justice Code as well as the Official Secrets Act. Security agencies are now trying to find out who are the people associated with this spy network and whether it is connected to any big international gang. Officials say that considering the seriousness of the matter, an investigation is being done at many levels and more revelations may be made soon.
