New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday targeted the Nehru-Gandhi family, saying that stealing is their ancestral business. PM Modi alleged that the Congress has stolen the surname of Mohandas Gandhi.
Responding in the Rajya Sabha to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President's address, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today my country is showcasing its full potential. This happens when you have economic strength, your citizens have energy towards the country, and especially a strong ecosystem for manufacturing; only then does the world come forward to deal with you.”
Prime Minister Modi said that those immersed in vote bank politics never prioritized strengthening the many aspects of the country. As far as the Congress party is concerned, I want to say clearly that they had neither any vision, nor any foresight, nor any willpower.
PM Modi said that the recently concluded trade agreements will greatly benefit our youth. This includes youth from rural and urban areas, as well as the middle class, our sons and daughters. The global market has now opened up for them, and new opportunities await them. He said that I want to assure our youth that I stand shoulder to shoulder with you, and the world is ready to welcome your talents and ambitions.
PM Modi said that a lot of our energy is being spent on correcting their (Congress's) mistakes. We are working to erase the image that the world had of the country during their time, because they left the country in that state. And for this very reason, we have emphasized future-ready policies. Today you must have seen that the country is running on the basis of policy. That is why trust in the country is being built in the world today. Today the country has boarded the reform express.
The Prime Minister said that even the most developed countries are deporting illegal immigrants from their countries. “But here, undue pressure is being put on the courts to protect these infiltrators... These infiltrators are depriving our youth of their rights and livelihoods, and they are encroaching on the ancestral lands of tribal communities. Yet, these people come here and lecture us,” he said.
In his address, the Prime Minister launched a scathing attack on Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. PM Modi termed Rahul Gandhi's remarks about Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, as an insult to the Sikh community. The PM said, "A respected Member of Parliament from this very House was called a traitor by the cunning prince (Rahul Gandhi) of the Congress party. Their arrogance has reached sky-high levels. Many people have left the Congress party, but they didn't call anyone else a traitor. This man was a Sikh. This was an insult to the Sikhs, to the Gurus. It was because of the hatred they harbor in their hearts towards Sikhs that they said this yesterday."
"He said this to a person whose family has a history of making sacrifices for the country. It's unfortunate to call him a traitor simply because he is a Sikh. What kind of feelings does the Congress party harbor towards Sikhs? On one hand, there is this pain, and on the other hand, there is the pain of Sadanand Master. Due to political animosity, both his legs were amputated in the prime of his youth. He is living his life with amputated legs, but his character is so noble that there is not a trace of bitterness in his words. When he placed his prosthetic limbs on the table, that sight was heart-wrenching. It is from such people that we draw inspiration to live and die for our principles in politics," he added.
A heated argument had taken place between Rahul Gandhi and Ravneet Bittu outside the Makar Gate of Parliament on Wednesday. During the exchange, Rahul Gandhi called Bittu a "traitor," to which Bittu responded by calling Rahul Gandhi an "enemy of the country." Following this incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party accused Rahul Gandhi of insulting the entire Sikh community and demanded action from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
