National News: The news of the monsoon arriving before time across the country has definitely given some relief to the people, but this wind of relief is proving to be very mild in front of the strong heat waves. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning that the heat wave will continue in many parts of the country for the next few days. Especially the states of North India and Central India will see the havoc of heat wave.
According to the IMD, states like Western Rajasthan, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Western Uttar Pradesh will remain in the grip of heat wave for the next few days.
Delhiites are expected to get some relief from light rain and strong winds on 16-17 May. However, the temperature will remain above normal. According to meteorologist Dr. Naresh Kumar, "There is no western disturbance active in North-West India at this time, so there is no widespread possibility of rain at the moment."
Strong Winds: Storms with wind speeds of 60–90 km/h were reported in Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and central Maharashtra.
Hailstorm: Hail was recorded in parts of western Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
Heavy Rain: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Rayalaseema experienced heavy rainfall.
North India: Strong winds also wreaked havoc in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Vidarbha.
North-West India: Temperature will increase by 2-3 degrees in the next 3 days, then it will remain stable for 4 days.
East India: Temperature will remain the same for the first 2 days, then it may fall by 2-3 degrees in 3 days.
Central India: Temperature will increase gradually for the next 4 days, then it will remain stable.
"To avoid heat wave, do not go out of the house during the day, drink plenty of water, and wear loose cotton clothes." – Appeal of the Meteorological Department to the general public.
This mood of the weather is definitely hot, but awareness and caution are the real relief.
