National News: The Supreme Court heard the impeachment case against Justice Verma on Wednesday. This case is based on the investigation report in which Verma was found guilty in the cash scandal. On the basis of this report, the former Chief Justice had sent a recommendation to the President and the Prime Minister. Verma's lawyer Kapil Sibal raised questions on this process. He said that there is no provision for impeachment on the basis of internal investigation.

Kapil Sibal told the court that it was not right to form a committee of three judges. He argued that the legal basis of this investigation is not clear. Sibal said that this committee is unconstitutional and it will set a wrong example. He believed that impeachment should not be recommended without a solid process. The bench asked sharp questions on this argument.

The bench gave a strong reply

The bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice AG Masih said that the system of in-house investigation was made in 1999. Action is taken on this basis. The bench said that the Chief Justice is not a post office. He also has a responsibility towards the country. If he sees any irregularities, he can inform the president and the prime minister.

Emphasis on the responsibility of the Chief Justice

Kapil Sibal said that if the court has already made up its mind, then what is the point of debate? On this the bench said that we will listen to your arguments and then give the decision. The court said that you just tell whether the committee was unconstitutional or not. Do not discuss the contents of the report.

Decision reserved

After the hearing, the court reserved the decision for now. The bench said that the powers of the central government will not be considered in this case. At present, the issue is only about the validity of the investigation committee. The court will soon give its decision on this. Meanwhile, the debate on this matter is going on in legal circles. All eyes are on the decision; there will be an earthquake in the judiciary!

The case can have a profound impact on the functioning of the judiciary. If the committee is declared unconstitutional, it will have a major impact on the impeachment process. If it is considered valid, action will be taken against Verma. Everyone's eyes are now fixed on the decision of the Supreme Court.
