SC's Order On Green Crackers Ahead Of Diwali 2025: As the festival of Diwali will be celebrated across the nation on October 20, the national capital is already gripped in the festive mood. Ahead of Diwali, lets have a look at the recent verdict of the Supreme Court. Recently, the Supreme Court has lifted all the bans from green firecrackers, and allowed the sale and bursting of green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR. However, the ban has been removed on green firecrakers in Delhi-NCR on test basis which is followed by strict monitoring of authorities.

As per the recent verdict of the Supreme Court, only green firecrackers approved by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) will be allowed for sale and use in Delhi-NCR for Diwali. Notably, 'Ladi' firecrackers will not be allowed. Apart from this, all the approved green firecrackers must have QR codes.
It is worthy to be mentioned here that strict measures will be taken to check if the Supreme Court instructions related to the use of green firecrackers is implemented properly in Delhi-NCR or not.
As per the Supreme Court order, the sale of green firecrackers has been allowed for three days i.e., from October 18 to 20. Meanwhile, permission has been granted to burst green firecrackers from 6 am to 7 am and 8 pm to 10 pm on October 19 and 20.
As per a report of PTI, the administration has provided 168 temporary licences for the retail sale of NEERI-approved green firecrackers at selected locations till Saturday.
