SUV falls in a gorge, leaving 5 dead and 1 injured in J&K’s Ramban

An SUV vehicle went off the road and fell into a gorge on Friday evening, killing five people and injuring two, according to police authorities.

National News: At Ukhral Pogal Paristan in the Ramban region of Jammu and Kashmir, an SUV vehicle went off the road and fell into a gorge on Friday evening, killing five people and injuring two, according to police authorities. “The Tata Sumo fell into a 600-foot-deep gorge near Madina Masjid hill on the Senabati link road in the Paristan area of Ukhral around 8 pm on Friday,” a police officer said. The district administration is providing ₹25,000 for the injured and ₹1 lakh each for the families of the deceased.

5 died, 1 injured

Four passengers, Mohammad Rafiq Gujjar, Tauqeer Ahmed Bhat, Abdul Latief Gujjar, Aijaz Ahmed Bhat, and Shakeel Ahmad, died on the spot. “One of them was later shifted to SKIMS at Soura in Srinagar, where he died while receiving treatment,” the officer added.

District Commissioner's statement

Mohammad Alyas Khan, district commissioner of Ramban, expressed his profound grief on the tragic incident. "District administration Ramban expresses profound grief over the tragic loss of four precious lives in a road accident at Ukhral Senabati. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured," he said.

Lieutenant governor' statement

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has also expressed sorrow for the affected people and their families. He said, “Saddened to learn about the loss of lives due to the tragic road accident in Ramban. I pray for a speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.”
