Chennai: After entering Tamil Nadu politics, Tamilnadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has now begun openly outlining his election promises. At an event held in Vellore, Vijay made several major announcements, citing law and order, education, health, women's safety, and regional development as the main pillars of his politics.
Vijay clearly stated that women and children will be completely safe under his government. He claimed that the administration and police will be made strict and accountable. He also promised to make Tamil Nadu "drug-free."
Vijay said that government schools and colleges will be made "top-class" so that students do not have to rely on coaching centers. He said that a strong curriculum and improved infrastructure are the key to educational reform. He also promised safe, clean, and well-maintained buildings in institutions, along with safe toilets for women.
Vijay spoke about ensuring 50 percent participation of women in the administration and law and order system. He described this as a major step towards social balance and empowerment.
Vijay stated that industrial development would not be limited to the northern districts, but that new industrial sectors would also be developed in South Tamil Nadu. He also promised to provide state-of-the-art transportation and medical facilities in the hilly areas. He announced that government primary health centers equipped with maternity facilities would be established in hill villages.
There was talk of establishing welfare boards for auto, taxi, and truck drivers. He also assured that after listening to the problems of communities like fishermen, farmers, and weavers, he would amend the law to benefit them. Overall, Vijay has clarified the direction of his political career and has attempted to woo voters by focusing on security, education, health, and balanced regional development. It remains to be seen how much impact these promises have on the ground.
