National News: RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has landed in the middle of a major row after claiming that his name was removed from the Election Commission’s voter list. In a recent press conference, Tejashwi displayed an EPIC number (RAB2916120) and alleged that his name was missing from the rolls under this number. The statement triggered a political storm. The BJP accused Tejashwi of presenting a fake EPIC number, while the Election Commission (EC) has launched an inquiry and formally issued a notice to him.
BJP MP and national spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra raised sharp questions, asking: “How does Tejashwi Yadav have two EPIC numbers? Did he intentionally mislead the public by showing a false number? Does he possess two separate voter ID cards?” Patra claimed that the EPIC number RAB2916120, which Tejashwi displayed, does not exist in the records. He further pointed out that Tejashwi’s 2020 Assembly election affidavit lists a different EPIC number – RAB0456228 – which is still active and linked to his name in the official electoral roll.
Patna’s Returning Officer and District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan confirmed that Tejashwi’s name is indeed present in the voter roll under the valid EPIC number.
His details are listed in the Digha Assembly constituency:
The Election Commission has now sought clarification from Tejashwi, asking him to submit the voter ID card or proof for the number he displayed – RAB2916120. The EC wants to verify how this number surfaced and whether any discrepancy or wrongdoing is involved.
The BJP alleged that Tejashwi is questioning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls only to “spread confusion.” Dr. Patra even taunted: “If RJD’s top leaders are flaunting two EPIC numbers, should we also assume Congress and RJD workers involved in booth-capturing have multiple voter IDs?”
The BJP also pointed out that of nearly 1.5 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) across political parties:
Tejashwi Yadav must now respond to the EC’s notice and clarify the authenticity of the number he showcased. What started as a simple claim about a missing voter entry has now escalated into a full-blown political controversy in Bihar, raising serious questions about transparency, voter identity, and political credibility.
