Fire Incident in Warehouse: A massive fire broke out in a chemical warehouse on Sunday night in Thane district of Maharashtra, causing panic in the area. The fire broke out at Savad Naka, Lonad village, Bhiwandi at around 9:45 pm. People got scared in the surrounding industrial area due to the dense smoke rising from the fire. Officials said no one died in this fire incident, but a fire officer was injured.

Fire officer injured in incident

While extinguishing the fire, Fire Officer Nitin Lad fell into a drain and got injured. He was immediately given medical assistance and his condition is said to be stable. Fire brigade officials said the accident occurred despite wearing security equipment while extinguishing the fire. This incident showed how challenging it can be to control fire in chemical godowns.

Large-scale action to extinguish the fire

Several fire engines and private water tankers were sent to the spot to control the fire. A total of four fire engines—two from Kalyan welfare and one each from Bhiwandi and Ulhasnagar were deployed. Disaster Management Head of Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation, Saqib Kharbe, said that the firefighters were trying to control the fire till late at night. The cause of the fire is not yet known and the investigation is ongoing.

Separate incident in Thane city

A fire broke out in the electrical meter room of the three -storey 'Dnyaneshwar Smriti Society' in Thane city on the morning of 1 October. A total of 16 meters were burnt in this incident. Fortunately, no one is reported injured or lost in this fire. The fire was reported at 4:36 am and the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company and Fire Brigade together completely extinguished the fire till about 5 pm. The cause of this incident is not yet known.

Need for stronger safety measures

Both events have clarified the need for security standards in industrial and residential areas. Officials have urged businesses and citizens to review the fire safety protocol and prepare for an emergency. Experts say that regular inspection, fire detection systems and trained personnel are needed to prevent fire incidents in chemical warehouses.
