Twisha Sharma's mother-in-law Giribala Singh arrested by CBI after six hours of interrogation

Following more than six hours of interrogation, the CBI team has arrested former Judge Giribala Singh who is the mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma.

Bhopal: The CBI has taken significant action in the Twisha Sharma case. Following more than six hours of interrogation, the CBI team has arrested former Judge Giribala Singh who is the mother-in-law of the victim. Following her arrest, she is being transported to a hospital, where she will undergo a medical examination. Subsequently, she is scheduled to be produced before the CBI court.

Why did the CBI arrest Giribala Singh?

Notably, the Madhya Pradesh High Court had cancelled her anticipatory bail late at night. Following this development, the CBI team entered her residence around 10:30 AM. Since then, she had been undergoing continuous interrogation. During the questioning, Giribala Singh cited her deteriorating health condition; in support of this claim, her lawyers submitted medical prescriptions issued by doctors.

What Action Did the Police Take?

A large contingent of police personnel was deployed outside the residence while Giribala Singh was being interrogated. The CBI posed numerous questions to her regarding the Twisha Sharma case. In addition to CBI officials, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was also present inside the house. Furthermore, the CBI's technical team was also present on the premises.

Whaat is the Timeline of the Twisha Sharma Case?

*   Twisha Sharma passed away at her in-laws' residence on May 12.
*   On May 13, her family members alleged that she had been murdered.
*   The family staged a protest demanding the registration of an FIR against Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh.
*   Subsequently, the family demanded a second post-mortem examination.
*   Their petition was dismissed by the Bhopal Court.
*   The family met with the Chief Minister to demand a CBI inquiry into the matter.
*   The family filed a petition in the High Court seeking a second post-mortem.
*   The High Court ordered a second post-mortem examination.
*   The state government recommended a CBI inquiry into the case.
*   A team from AIIMS, Delhi, conducted the post-mortem examination on Twisha Sharma's body.
*   The Supreme Court also took cognizance of the matter.
*   Subsequently, Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, surrendered to the authorities.
*   The CBI registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the case.
*   Giribala Singh's anticipatory bail was cancelled by the High Court.

Did CBI Also Bring Samarth Singh Along?

Notably, prior to the interrogation of Giribala Singh, the CBI team had arrived at the residence accompanied by Samarth Singh. It is reported that Giribala and Samarth Singh were interrogated while seated face-to-face. Following her court appearance, the CBI may take Giribala Singh into custody on remand.

What are Questions Regarding Twisha Sharma Case?

Meanwhile, numerous questions surround the death of Twisha Sharma. The most critical of these concerns the timing of her death. The police diary records a specific time for the death, whereas the CCTV footage indicates a different time altogether. Consequently, the authorities are currently gathering and examining all available technical evidence. The SIT has also handed over its preliminary investigation report to the CBI, which is now conducting the inquiry in its own manner.
