Mirzapur: A heart-wrenching road accident occurred on Wednesday night at Badka Mod in the Drummondganj Ghat area of ​​Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. An out-of-control four-wheeled vehicle caught fire and was engulfed in raging flames. It is feared that approximately seven occupants of the car were burned alive in this tragic incident.

Local police and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately upon receiving the information. Efforts are currently underway to bring the fire under control and identify the victims. The situation remains extremely grave pending official confirmation.

How did the accident take place?

A tragic accident occurred late Wednesday evening in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. A Bolero collided from behind with a truck that was traveling from Madhya Pradesh loaded with chickpeas. Following the collision with the truck, the Bolero caught fire. Before the occupants inside the vehicle could manage to escape, the Bolero was engulfed in flames and began burning furiously. In a matter of moments, nine people seated inside the car were burnt alive. The incident triggered scenes of panic and distress. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and summoned the fire brigade. Firefighting and relief operations are currently underway. Meanwhile, the police are actively investigating the matter.

According to reports, around 8:30 PM on Wednesday evening, a truck was descending the slope from the Drummondganj Ghat in Madhya Pradesh towards Mirzapur. Following it was a smaller vehicle (registration number UP 65 MP 4038), which was itself being followed by a truck loaded with food grains; the smaller vehicle, sandwiched between the two trucks, was crushed and completely flattened. Following this initial sequence of events, a Bolero vehicle (registration number UP 63 AC 5589) crashed into the rear of the rearmost truck. The impact of the Bolero striking the truck was so severe that the Bolero immediately burst into flames. Within moments, the entire vehicle was engulfed in fire.

What did eyewitnesses reveal?

According to eyewitnesses, the occupants of the Bolero had no opportunity to escape following the accident. All of them perished inside the burning vehicle. Although villagers attempted to extinguish the fire engulfing the Bolero, the blaze was so intense that they were unable to even approach the vehicle. Upon receiving the alert, teams from the police and the fire brigade arrived at the scene. The fire was eventually brought under control. So far, the bodies of nine individuals have been recovered from inside the vehicle. The trucks and other vehicles involved are being towed away to facilitate the extraction of the injured and the deceased from the site. Currently, two Circle Officers (COs), five Station House Officers (SHOs), and two fire tenders—along with supporting police personnel—are present at the scene.
