Uttarakhand : Muslim Population Rises in 28 Dehradun Villages as Hindu-Majority Areas Shift

Muslim Population in Uttarakhand: News of demographic changes in Uttarakhand continues to make headlines. Shocking data has emerged from the Pachhuwa Doon (Vikasnagar) region of the capital, Dehradun, where the Muslim population has surpassed the Hindu population in 28 villages bordering Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. An investigation has uncovered a major scam involving the registration of names in fake family registers, which appears to be part of a conspiracy to consolidate vote banks in the Panchayat elections. Fraud in Family Registers: A Conspiracy of Village Heads

A preliminary investigation found that Muslim village heads, in collusion with village council officials, had incorrectly registered the names of relatives in family registers. The names of girls who moved out of Uttarakhand after marriage were not removed from the register, but the names of their sons-in-law and children were also added. This not only affected population figures but also allowed these people to benefit from government services such as ration cards, Aadhaar cards, and voter lists. This scam is not limited to Pachhuwa Doon but has spread to many other areas of the state.

A Well-Organized Conspiracy for Vote Bank

In August 2025, a case of large-scale creation of fake certificates was uncovered at a Common Service Center. Investigations revealed that outsiders were being enrolled to increase the vote bank in Panchayat elections, while those that were deleted were retained. These areas, which were predominantly Hindu before the formation of the state, have now become predominantly Muslim. The number of Muslim voters in Vikasnagar has increased from 6,000 to 32,000.
