New Delhi: A new record has been set for Uttarakhand's Char Dham Yatra; within just 55 days, 3,105,553 pilgrims have visited the four holy shrines. Kedarnath Dham recorded the highest number of visitors at 1,105,676. This was followed by Badrinath (908,619), Gangotri (528,406), and Yamunotri Dham (507,421). The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand commenced on April 19.
Previously, around 5.1 million (51 lakh) pilgrims visited the four shrines. This time, more than 3.1 million pilgrims have already visited the shrines within just 55 days. Consequently, the previous record is likely to be surpassed.
The number of pilgrims in Uttarakhand is steadily increasing, prompting special security arrangements. Surveillance is being maintained across the four shrines using CCTV cameras and drones. The surge in pilgrim numbers has also led to traffic jams along the Char Dham routes, particularly on the paths to Kedarnath and Badrinath.
The arrival of pilgrims in the hundreds of thousands has provided a significant boost to local businesses. Hoteliers, restaurant and *dhaba* owners, horse and mule operators, food stall owners, and other traders are delighted, as business is thriving. Additionally, the taxi, maxi-cab, bus, and general tour and travel sectors have benefited significantly.
