New Delhi: Monsoon seems to be gaining momentum once again in many parts of the country during the middle of August. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain, thunder and strong winds in many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, on Monday, August 17. Due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, rainfall activities may increase over East and Central India. Heavy to very heavy rain is also expected in some areas.
The humid heat in Delhi-NCR on Monday may trouble people. However, the sky will remain cloudy and there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in some areas. Along with Delhi, the weather may also change in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. According to IMD, rain activities may be seen in Delhi and Haryana on August 17 and 18.
Monsoon remains active in Bihar also. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in many districts of the state. There may be heavy rain at some places, due to which the problem of waterlogging in low-lying areas may increase. People have been advised to exercise caution during bad weather.
A low pressure area is forming in the north-western part of the Bay of Bengal and along the coast of West Bengal and North Odisha. According to IMD, this system can move in the north-west direction. Under its influence, there is a possibility of very heavy and extremely heavy rainfall at some places over Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha on August 17.
The rainy season is going to continue in the hilly states also. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at some places in Himachal Pradesh on August 17 and 18. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Uttarakhand between 18th and 22nd August. In such a situation, the risk of problems like landslides and sudden waterlogging in hilly areas may increase.
Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at many places in Assam and Meghalaya in the coming days. The rainy season is expected to continue in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim also. In areas with continuous rain, it will be necessary to keep an eye on the warnings issued by the local administration.
