New Delhi: Monsoon has once again become active in many parts of the country. Due to the system formed in the Bay of Bengal and active cyclonic circulation at different places, the rainfall has intensified. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand on Sunday. 

In which states is there an alert of heavy rain today?

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there will be rain in these states today:

Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand.  

At some places, there may be thunderstorms along with heavy rains. Due to the system formed in the Bay of Bengal, monsoon activities have increased in Eastern and Central India. The Meteorological Department has said that rain will continue in many areas in the coming days.

Why did the water level of Ganga increase in UP?

Due to the rains in Uttar Pradesh for the last few days, the water level of Ganga river has increased at many places. Many small temples built on the banks of Ganga in Varanasi have been submerged in water. There are chances of rain in most of the districts of the state on Sunday also. It may rain in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Noida, Aligarh, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Deoria.

Will it rain again in Delhi-NCR?

The weather may change on Sunday amid the humid heat in Delhi-NCR. Rain in the capital and surrounding areas can provide relief from heat and humidity. But after the rain, there may be problem of waterlogging in some low-lying areas.

Why has the risk of landslides increased in hilly states?

Monsoon is still active in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Uttarakhand: There will be rain in Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Pauri and Rudraprayag. There is a danger of landslides on hilly roads due to continuous rains.

Himachal: It may rain in Kullu, Manali, Sirmaur, Kangra, Hamirpur, Una and Solan.

Jammu and Kashmir: Weather is expected to be bad in Srinagar, Kistwar, Poonch, Kupwara, Ramban, Udhampur and Shopian.

How will the weather be in Bihar and Central India?

Bihar: Patna, Gaya, West Champaran, It may rain in Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Kishanganj, Katihar and Bhagalpur.

Madhya Pradesh: Rain continues in Bhopal, Rewa, Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions. There will be good rain in many parts of the state in the next few days.

Chhattisgarh: There are chances of rain in Raipur, Bilaspur and Surguja divisions also.

How will the weather be in the coming days?

According to the Meteorological Department, it will continue to rain in the Ganga plains for the next few days. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur over West Bengal, North Odisha and Jharkhand. Very heavy rain is also possible at some places on August 17. Therefore, people living in hilly and low-lying areas should take special care. Keep an eye on the latest warnings from the Meteorological Department and leave the house only when necessary.
