Dhaka: A shocking report has come to light amidst the increasing diplomatic closeness between India's neighbouring countries Bangladesh and Pakistan. The report claims that poor and unemployed people of Bangladesh are being lured to Pakistan with the promise of jobs and their organs are allegedly being trafficked there. However, these allegations could not be independently confirmed.
Quoting Bangladeshi media reports and intelligence sources, it has been claimed that some organised networks linked to Pakistan are luring poor and needy people with the promise of employment. These networks have been accused of being involved in human trafficking and illegal organ trading.
According to the report, economically weaker people of Bangladesh are lured by good jobs and attractive salaries abroad. After reaching Pakistan in the hope of employment, they are taken to private clinics in the name of medical examination.
According to claims, some victims are rendered unconscious and one of their kidneys is removed. They are later forced to sign documents stating that organ donation was voluntary. However, these allegations have not been officially confirmed yet.
Lahore Police has allegedly busted a fake company named 'Zakir Traders', the report said. Investigating agencies are investigating possible links to human trafficking and illegal activities in this case.
On the basis of some intelligence inputs, it has also been claimed that a conspiracy is being hatched to infect Bangladeshi citizens with HIV on the pretext of medical examination. However, this claim has not yet been independently investigated or officially confirmed. Therefore, at present it is being seen only in the form of allegations and reports.
Experts believe that an impartial and independent investigation into such serious allegations is extremely important. Until relevant agencies and international organisations corroborate these claims, they should be treated as allegations only.
If truth is found in these allegations, it will not only be a violation of human rights but can also prove to be a serious challenge to the security and social stability of South Asia. Therefore, there may be a demand for international monitoring and investigation on this matter.
