Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan met his wife Bushra Bibi and sister Noreen Niazi at Adiala Jail Tuesday after nine months after Supreme Court ordered to hold weekly meetings between him and his family members.
According to reports, Noreen met with the jailed former Pakistan prime minister for about 15 minutes. Sources in jail said that she apprised him about the Supreme Court order related to his transfer to Islamabad's Shifa hospital. She also inquired about his health and discussed certain legal issues with him.
Upon leaving Adiala Jail, Noreen said that she met Imran but did not talk to the media in compliance with the commitment given to the court earlier. She along with her sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan left the prison afterwards.
According to sources, Imran also met Bushra Bibi. Sources in jail revealed that the meeting continued for about 30 to 35 minutes.
It is worth mentioning here that before visiting her brother, Bushra Bibi visited her daughter Mubashra Sheikh and sister-in-law Mehrunnisa for the same period of time.
Expressing happiness in front of the media after the meeting, Aleema said, "Words cannot describe how happy I am about the meeting. I cannot even imagine where I would have got sweets from. I have appeared before the ATC Rawalpindi from the Supreme Court."
Asked if she received any indication about a change in the situation, Aleema said, "Where are we supposed to get any indication from? Do you mean this meeting? Yes, something has happened together, but we are still uncertain."
Noreen was one of the three sisters of Imran who arrived at the Dahgal checkpoint situated on the way to Adiala Jail after the Supreme Court order. Police initially stopped Aleema, Dr Uzma and Noreen at the checkpoint but later allowed only Noreen to go inside the jail.
On Tuesday morning, a three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed directed the government to facilitate weekly meetings between Imran and his family amidst concerns about his health. The Supreme Court bench was hearing petitions about PTI founder's access to his sisters and personal physicians along with his health condition.
