New Delhi: The fourth T20 match between India and New Zealand will be played on Friday at the Auckland ground. India has maintained an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20 series. The Indian team will now be looking to score its fourth consecutive victory.
India's star fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has taken four wickets in three matches. He will create a new record as soon as he takes one wicket in Auckland. In fact, Arshdeep will complete 150 wickets in T20 International cricket. He will be the first Indian to do so. Currently, he has 149 wickets in 98 innings of 102 T20 matches.
27-year-old Arshdeep will become the first pacer in the world to take 150 wickets in less than 100 innings in T20Is after taking one wicket in Auckland. Till now only two spinners have been able to achieve this feat. Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga completed 150 wickets in 90 innings while Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan completed 150 wickets in 92 innings. Till now only 9 bowlers have been able to take 150 or more wickets in T20 Internationals. Rashid holds the record for most wickets in this format. He has taken 199 wickets in 119 matches. England spinner Adil Rashid has taken 171 wickets in 153 matches.
In Auckland, New Zealand captain and spinner Mitchell Santner will also have a chance to reach 150 wickets. Santner has taken 149 wickets in 141 T20 matches so far. Arshdeep, who made his international debut in 2022, is India's leading wicket-taker in T20Is, followed by pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah has taken 126 wickets in 100 T20 matches. He is not part of the Indian squad for the New Zealand T20 series.
