An important match of IPL 2025 was being played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala. But this exciting match came to an abrupt halt when an unexpected incident took place in the stadium. On Thursday, when Punjab's team was batting and their first wicket had fallen, the match had to be stopped in the middle after 10.1 overs.
During the match, a floodlight tower suddenly caught fire. At first, people thought it must have happened due to some technical glitch. But in a short time, two more floodlight towers were closed, causing chaos in the entire stadium. Considering security, the authorities ordered the spectators to evacuate the stadium.
Following the unexpected development, the IPL confirmed on its official 'X' (formerly Twitter) account that the Dharamsala match has been cancelled. This was a big setback for the fans and teams as this match could prove to be important in the playoff race.
Shortly after this incident, it became clear that the matter was not only technical but related to security. According to reports, Pakistan carried out surprise attacks in many parts of India. Sensitive areas like Jammu and Punjab were targeted. Due to these attacks, the country's air defense system was put on alert mode.
In response to these attacks, India's Air Defense took immediate action and killed a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet. Drone attacks were foiled in Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. A drone was also shot down by the Indian Army in Akhnoor.
This situation once again proved that no matter how big the game is, when it comes to the security of the country, everything has to be left behind. The cancellation of the Dharamsala match was not just a loss for cricket, it became a symbol of prioritising the country's security.
