Dhaka: During the second ODI match being played between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Salman Ali Agha returned to the pavilion after being run out in a bizarre fashion. In the match taking place in Dhaka, he appeared to be in good form and was batting on a half-century; however, he was run out due to the shrewdness of Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan.

He was visibly displeased, however, and appeared angry as he made his way back to the pavilion. Upon reaching the boundary line, he even threw down his helmet and gloves in frustration. Salman Ali's dismissal in this manner has once again sparked a debate regarding 'the spirit of cricket' on the field.

Why did Mehidy and Salman quarrel?

This incident occurred during the 39th over of Pakistan's innings. On the fourth ball of the over, Mohammad Rizwan nudged the ball towards the on-side. As the ball lacked pace, the bowler—Mehidy Hasan Miraz—ran to field it; in the process, Salman Ali Agha came into his path, resulting in a minor collision between the two players.

Meanwhile, the ball came to a halt near Salman's feet. Seeing the ball stop, Salman attempted to pick it up, forgetting in that moment that he was outside his crease. The Bangladesh captain scooped up the ball before Salman could and threw it at the stumps. As the ball struck the stumps, an appeal for a run-out was raised; the on-field umpire referred the decision to the third umpire, who subsequently ruled Salman run out.

Why was Salman Left in Disbelief?

Although Salman attempted to explain to Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan that he was merely trying to pick up the ball to hand it back, Hasan pointed out that he was outside his crease. Salman returned to the pavilion looking visibly furious. In the interim, Mohammad Rizwan appealed to the Bangladeshi players—who appeared quite aggressive at the time—to calm down.
