BCCI announces Schedule for 2026-27 Season; No Respite for Team India Until ODI World Cup

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the schedule for Team India's upcoming international home season for 2026-27. A total of 22 international matches will be played on Indian soil during this season, featuring tours by teams such as the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Australia. All these matches will be contested across 17 different venues. The BCCI has curated a complete season of cricket entertainment for Indian fans.

Who will Team India face in season opener?

India's domestic season will commence on September 27, 2026, with an ODI series against the West Indies. The Windies squad is scheduled to play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is in India. The ODI matches will be hosted in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, and New Chandigarh, while the T20I series caravan will travel to Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

Will there be white-ball series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe?

In December 2026, the Sri Lankan team will tour India to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The ODI matches will take place in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, while the T20I series will be played in Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune. Immediately following this, in early January 2027, the Zimbabwe team will arrive in India for a 3-match ODI series, with matches scheduled to be played in Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

What about the Border-Gavaskar Trophy?

The biggest highlight of the season will be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Australian team will tour India for a 5-match Test series. This marquee event will begin on January 21, 2027, with the first Test in Nagpur. The subsequent four Tests will be played in Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi, and Ahmedabad.
