New Delhi: Post 2026 T20 World Cup victory celebrations, India all rounder Hardik Pandya has landed into legal trouble after a complaint was filed by an advocate against the star cricketer alleging disrespect to the national flag during the win celebrations.

What is the complaint about?

The complaint was filed by Pune-based advocate Wajid Khan against Hardik Pandya for disrespecting the national flag during the victory celebration after winning ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

According to the complaint, in several video of post-match celebrations, Hardik Pandya is seen celebrating with the Indian national flag draped over his shoulders while dancing, running, lying on the stage alongside his girlfriend Mahieka Sharma.

What did Wajid Khan say about the complaint?

In the complaint, Wajid Khan said that during the celebrations, Hardik Pandya was seen lying down on the stage alongside girlfriend Mahieka Sharma with the flag still wrapped around him.

"You must have seen the T20 World Cup here. Hardik Pandya was dancing with his girlfriend in celebration of his victory. The national flag was tied to his back," Khan told ANI.

"According to Section 2 of the 1971 National Flag Act, we should respect the dignity of the national flag. However, Hardik Pandya was so lost in the celebration of his victory that he was lying with his girlfriend while wearing the national flag. I believe it is an insult to the national flag."

Khan also said that the police initially told him the incident took place in Ahmedabad, but later he insisted that the national flag represents the entire country so the complaint can be filed in Pune as well.

"When I went to file the complaint, they told me the incident occurred there, not here. I told them the national flag is a symbol of the entire nation, and we can file a complaint here. Then they filed my complaint,” he said.

"I have filed a complaint with the Shivaji Nagar police station. They have accepted my complaint and provided me with a copy. Let's see what happens next," he said.
