ICC ODI Rankings: Virat Kohli captures top spot after 4 years, overtakes Rohit Sharma

New Delhi: Team India's star batter Virat Kohli has once again reclaimed the number one position in the ICC ODI Batting Rankings. He surpassed his teammate Rohit Sharma to claim the top spot. 

How did Kohli rise to the top spot?

Virat Kohli rose to the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings after playing a brilliant innings of 93 runs in the first ODI against New Zealand. He is in superb form in the 50-over format, having displayed excellent form in his last five matches.

After how many years did Virat Kohli capture the top spot?

After a long wait of 1404 days, Virat Kohli has once again achieved the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings for batters. Kohli, considered one of the greatest batsmen in the world, lost his top position among ODI batters at the beginning of 2021 when former Pakistan captain Babar Azam overtook him.

Now, after 4 years, Kohli has finally made his comeback as the number one batsman. He faced tough competition from New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell in this race for the top spot, but Kohli, with 785 points, narrowly edged out Mitchell to claim the throne.

How many ratings points does Virat Kohli have?

Virat Kohli has gained the top spot in the ICC ODI Batters’ Rankings with 785 rating points. Earlier, he was at the second position. 

Meanwhile, New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell has also moved up one place to the second position. He has 784 rating points to his name. This means there is only a one-point difference between Kohli and Mitchell. Rohit Sharma has slipped two places to number 3. His rating is 775.

Who is at the top spot in the ICC ODI Bowlers’ Rankings?

In the ICC ODI Bowlers’ Rankings, Afghanistan's star spinner Rashid Khan is at the number one spot with a rating of 710.  England pacer Jofra Archer is at number two with 670 rating points. Team India spinner Kuldeep Yadav remains at number three with a rating of 649. 

Who has topped the ICC ODI All-Rounders’ Rankings

Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai tops the ICC Men's ODI All-Rounders’ rankings with a rating of 334.  India's Axar Patel is also in the top 10.

How many runs has Kohli scored?

Virat Kohli completed 28,000 runs in international cricket during the first ODI against New Zealand. He achieved this historic milestone with a shot off the bowling of New Zealand spinner Aditya Ashok.

With this achievement, King Kohli became the third batsman in the world to complete 28,000 runs in international cricket, after Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara. He accomplished this feat in 624 innings, making him the fastest batsman to reach this milestone.
