Lucknow: India has made a great start to the five-match T20 series against West Indies. In the first T20 match played at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, Team India defeated West Indies by 8 wickets. Batting first, West Indies scored 171 runs in 19.1 overs. In reply, India won the match by scoring 172 runs losing 2 wickets in 14.4 overs. 

Did Shreyas Iyer score a stormy century?

The biggest hero of India's victory was captain Shreyas Iyer. He batted brilliantly and completed his first T20 International century. Iyer completed his half-century in just 26 balls and then reached his century in the next 16 balls. His aggressive innings increased the problems of the West Indies bowlers. 

Could West Indies score only 171 runs?

Rutherford completed his half-century in difficult conditions and made an important contribution in taking the team beyond 170. Despite this, the entire West Indies team was reduced to 171 runs in 19.1 overs.

How did the Indian bowlers stop the pace of West Indies?

The bowlers from India created pressure in the middle overs. Arshdeep Singh gave an important success by bowling Nicholas Pooran with a brilliant ball. Axar Patel dismissed Rovman Powell, while Kuldeep Yadav and Naman Dheer also got important wickets.

Naman Dheer shocked the West Indies middle order by taking three wickets in his spell. After this the Indian bowlers stopped the Caribbean team from scoring big. 

Was India's beginning also a bit difficult?

Chasing the target of 172 runs, the Indian team suffered a setback in the initial overs itself. Abhishek Sharma was out on the score of 35. After this, Sanju Samson also could not stay at the crease for long and India's second wicket fell at the total score of 57.

After this Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer took over the innings. Both of them scored runs quickly and put pressure on the West Indies bowlers.

Iyer and Ishaan's partnership turned the match?

After losing two early wickets, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer made a brilliant partnership. Iyer continuously hit big shots and increased the run rate rapidly. West Indies bowlers looked ineffective against their batting.

India won the match by 8 wickets by scoring 172 runs in just 14.4 overs. With this victory, India has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. 

Why did Vaibhav Suryavanshi not get a chance?

Young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi was not included in the playing eleven in this match. Apart from him, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravi Bishnoi also remained out of the team. The Indian team decided to field with bowlers like Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav and Mayank Yadav. 

Now the second T20 match of the series between India and West Indies will be played on Friday. After the victory in the first match, the Indian team will now look to strengthen its lead in the series.
