Sports News: The five-match Test series between India and England, known as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, has already witnessed a significant record-breaking moment—even though the third Test is still underway. Team India has created history by surpassing a long-standing record for the most sixes hit in an overseas Test series.
Previously, this record was held jointly by the West Indies and New Zealand, who had each smashed 32 sixes in overseas Test series. But now, India has taken the top spot with a total of 36 sixes in just the first three matches of the current series.
This achievement was made possible after a powerful display in the first innings of the third Test, where Indian batters—Rishabh Pant (2 sixes), Ravindra Jadeja (1), Nitish Reddy (1), and Akash Deep (1)—collectively hit 6 sixes, taking India past the previous record.
What’s more exciting is that two full Test matches still remain, giving India a strong chance to reach—or even exceed—50sixes by the end of the series. That would make it one of the most explosive overseas Test campaigns in cricket history.
One of the most notable performers in this record-breaking run is Rishabh Pant, who has now drawn level with Rohit Sharma in terms of the most sixes hit by an Indian in Test cricket.
At the top of the list remains Virender Sehwag, who holds the Indian record with 90 sixes. However, with Pant’s aggressive batting style and form in the current series, he is well on track to become India’s highest six-hitter in Test history—possibly even before this series ends.
This milestone is not just a personal achievement for Pant but also a reflection of the aggressive and fearless approach of this Indian team under the current leadership. It showcases how the mindset in Test cricket is evolving—combining traditional patience with modern-day power hitting.
As the series continues, fans can expect more fireworks with the bat and perhaps more records being rewritten.
