Jaipur: Sunrisers Hyderabad outgunned former champions Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets in a high scoring IPL 2026 clash at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday. This marks Hyderabad's second consecutive victory over Rajasthan this season. Earlier, when the two teams met at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, SRH had defeated RR by 57 runs. With this victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad have reached a tally of 10 points and have climbed to the third position on the points table. Rajasthan has slipped down to the fourth spot. This was RR's third defeat of the season.
Sunrisers Hyderabad successfully chased down the target of 229 runs in 18.3 overs. However, the partnership between Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma proved to be pivotal in this run chase. The duo forged a match-winning partnership of 132 runs. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed after scoring 57 runs off 29 balls, while Ishan Kishan played a blistering innings of 74 runs off 31 balls. Travis Head continues to struggle with poor form; he was dismissed after scoring just 6 runs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was dismissed after playing a blistering innings of 36 runs, while Heinrich Klaasen was out after scoring 29 runs. Salil Arora hit the winning six for Hyderabad. Notably, this was Sunrisers Hyderabad's second-highest successful run chase in the IPL. For the Rajasthan Royals, Jofra Archer and Brijesh Sharma claimed 2 wickets each, while Donovan Ferreira also picked up 1 wicket.
After losing the toss and being put in to bat first, the Rajasthan Royals got off to a poor start. Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to make a significant impact with the bat and was dismissed after scoring just 10 runs. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel subsequently took charge of the innings. The duo forged a magnificent 112-run partnership for the second wicket off just 62 balls. Vaibhav appeared to be in sensational form, completing the second century of his IPL career in a mere 36 deliveries.
Vaibhav smashed the third-fastest century in the history of the IPL. Facing 37 balls, he played a commanding innings of 103 runs, featuring 5 fours and 12 sixes. Meanwhile, Jurel played a splendid innings of 51 runs off 35 balls, hitting 8 fours and one six. Riyan Parag's performance proved disappointing once again, as he managed to score only 7 runs after facing 9 deliveries.
Shimron Hetmyer also failed to make a significant impact with the bat; he scored 11 runs off 10 balls before falling victim to Prafull Hinge. Donovan Ferreira batted brilliantly in the final overs, scoring 33 runs off 16 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. Ravindra Jadeja could only manage 4 runs, while Jofra Archer remained unbeaten on 2 runs. In the bowling department, Prafull Hinge and Ishan Malinga claimed two wickets each for SRH, while Sakib Hussain and Pat Cummins took one wicket apiece.
