New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets in an IPL 2026 match played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday. Batting first, the Delhi Capitals team could only manage to score 142 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, thanks to a powerful century knock by Finn Allen, Kolkata Knight Riders clinched the match with 34 balls to spare. Kolkata posted a total of 147 runs for the loss of two wickets in 14.2 overs.
Batting first against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday, the Delhi Capitals team could only score 142 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. For Delhi, Ashutosh Sharma was the top scorer with 39 runs. In response, Kolkata got off to a poor start. Kolkata now has 9 points from 10 matches. If they win all their remaining matches from this point on, they could qualify for the playoffs. Kolkata has climbed to the 7th spot on the points table. On the other hand, qualifying for the playoffs has become nearly impossible for the Delhi Capitals. They have lost 7 out of their 11 matches. Notably, the Delhi Capitals had set a target of 143 runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Thanks to a blistering century by Finn Allen, KKR chased down this target in just 14.2 overs. Finn Allen brought up his century by smashing a six on the very last ball. This marked his maiden IPL century. New Zealand's Finn Allen reached his hundred in just 47 balls. His innings featured 5 fours and 10 sixes. Finn Allen remained unbeaten on exactly 100 runs. Apart from Allen, Cameron Green also remained unbeaten, scoring 33 runs. For the Delhi Capitals, the only wicket claimed by a bowler went to captain Axar Patel, while Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed via a run-out.
