Chennai: Gujarat Titans thrashed Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets in a one-sided IPL 2026 clash at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to bowl first. Dhoni did not feature in this match either. Batting first, CSK set a target of 159 runs for Gujarat, powered by Ruturaj Gaikwad's unbeaten knock of 74 runs. Gujarat successfully chased down this total in just the 17th over.

Gujarat Titans have thus returned to winning ways in IPL 2026. After suffering two consecutive defeats, GT crushed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets on Sunday. CSK had set a target of 159 runs at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. GT achieved victory in 16.4 overs for the loss of just two wickets. Gujarat got off to a strong start while chasing the target; Captain Shubman Gill shared a 58-run opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan. Gill scored 33 runs off 23 balls, striking one four and three sixes.

How did Sai Sudharsan perform?

Responding to the target of 159 runs, Gujarat got off to a magnificent start. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan played exceptional innings. The first wicket fell in the 7th over when Gill was dismissed after scoring 33 runs. However, Sai went on to play a brilliant innings thereafter, forging a fantastic partnership with Buttler. Although Sai's wicket fell in the 17th over, he had already played a stellar knock of 87 runs off 46 balls. Powered by this performance, Gujarat went on to win the match by 8 wickets.

How Did CSK Batters Perform?

Ruturaj and Sanju opened the innings for CSK. However, in this match, Sanju Samson was dismissed after scoring just 11 runs. Subsequently, Urvil Patel fell victim to Rabada after scoring 4 runs, while Sarfaraz failed to even open his account. Following this, Dewald Brevis was also dismissed cheaply, getting out after scoring a mere 2 runs. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad held his ground at one end. He played an unbeaten innings of 74 runs, on the strength of which CSK posted a total of 158 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
