India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has officially been left out of the squad for the fifth and final Test match against England. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made this announcement on Friday through a formal statement.

The statement said, "Mr. Jasprit Bumrah has been released from India’s squad for the fifth Test of the series against England." His absence is part of a planned break to help him fully recover and manage his workload.

Bumrah completes planned participation

Bumrah was not included in the team for the fifth Test at the Oval. His participation in the series was always expected to be limited to three games. He played the first match in Leeds, missed the second one in Birmingham, and then came back for the third and fourth tests at Lord’s and Manchester.

His workload has been carefully monitored since his recovery from a serious back injury suffered during the Border-Gavaskar series. The injury also stopped him from playing in the Champions Trophy. Once he reached England, it was agreed that Bumrah would be available for only three matches, although which specific matches he would play had not been decided earlier.

India aims to draw the series

The Indian team has now reached London as they prepare for the final Test with hopes of finishing the series evenly. In the fourth test, they managed to escape with a draw after being in a difficult position. India had fallen behind by 311 runs and lost two quick wickets for no score, but they fought back strongly to avoid a defeat.

For the final test, India made several changes. Anshul Kamboj, who came in after injuries to Nitish Kumar Reddy and Arshdeep Singh, is not part of the Playing XI. Rishabh Pant is not playing because he hurt his toe in the Manchester match. Shardul Thakur and Jasprit Bumrah are also not part of the final match.

Final squad for fifth test

India’s final squad for the fifth Test includes:

India’s team includes Shubman Gill (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice-Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel and N Jagadeesan (both wicketkeepers), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Anshul Kamboj, and Arshdeep Singh.
