New Delhi: Virat Kohli will not be playing in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan due to an injury.
As per report from a news agency, Virat Kohli, 37, a right handed batsman from Delhi who won the player of the match in the IPL 2026 final for scoring 75 runs from 42 balls for Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB) against Gujarat Titans (GT), will be sidelined from the first ever ODI series against Afghanistan. It is because he suffered an injury on Sunday, 31 May.
The BCCI had not confirmed yet, regarding Kohli's withdrawal from the ODI series. But a BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI, “He is out of the ODI series due to a hamstring injury"
Yashasvi Jaiswal or Ruturaj Gaikwad could be played as replacement of Kohli in the India's squad.
Jaiswal didn't get a chance to play in the last ODI series in any of the three matches against New Zealand. However, Gaikwad played well during the ODI series last year.
Rohit Sharma, former Indian captain was included in India's squad for the series on 19 May, but it's still not confirmed yet if he will be available for entire ODI series.

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala will be the spot where three match series will be played, between India and Afghanistan on June 13, Saturday. Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow will host the second 50-over match on June 17, Wednesday.
