Sports News: Tim David has expressed his thoughts on his future in ODI cricket for Australia. The giant right-handed lower-order batter has been a T20 prowess for Australia and his several franchises. Known to hit big, Tim David is a much-demanded name in the shortest format of the game. With a great IPL season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before his hamstring injury, David provided a great power-hitting option to the franchise. However, he is not fully committed to the ODIs and currently wants to play the T20s.
The immediate retirement of the star Aussie all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis has left Australia with a concern. Although David does not bowl, he is certainly a much-needed power hitter at the backend of the innings. Not to forget that the six-time champions will go through a tough transition after a couple of years after Steve Smith retires. David said he has been in talks with his personal mentors about a possible spot in the ODI 11 for Australia.
When the power hitter was asked about his will to play ODI cricket or not, David replied, "Definitely having conversations in the background with my coaches and people that I want to talk to about my game at the moment," David said on Tuesday. "I'm not too sure, to be honest. It's not the immediate plan. We've got such a busy year, to be honest, leading up to this T20 World Cup. The winter actually looks quite different for me this year. Previously, I would have been away for four or five months in a row over the winter playing competitions.
And now we've got so many T20 series that there's not much time to think about much else. So we'll see how that develops. But, at the moment, no plans."
The Aussie power hitter is currently undergoing his treatment in Perth and also preparing for the Caribbean tour, which starts just after the test series. David picked up a hamstring injury during the triumphant IPL journey earlier this year. Although he missed the playoffs due to the injury, he was still a very significant contributor.
