Sports News: Cole Palmer scored two goals and assisted another as Chelsea upset Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final on Sunday, defeating the European champions 3-0 and winning the trophy alongside US President Donald Trump. PSG were the favourites heading to the United States after winning the Champions League and defeating Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-finals. However, after leading by three goals early in the semi-finals, PSG found themselves 3-0 down at halftime.

Palmer's heroics

Palmer started the scoring midway through the first half, then added a second on the half-hour mark before taking advantage of slack defending to set up Joao Pedro for the third on 43 minutes. Joao Neves was sent off four minutes from the end after a VAR review for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair off the ball, finishing off a terrible day for PSG.

Enzo Maresca speaks

"Being Club World Cup champion is something for us to be proud of. We are very happy, especially against a team in PSG, who I consider the best in the world with one of the best managers in the world," said Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca. Speaking on the hero of the match, Enzo said, "These are the games where we expect Cole to appear because it is a big game, a big moment, and once again he showed how good he is."

Players face off after the match

Before Chelsea could take the trophy, tensions flared at full-time, with players clashing on the pitch and Paris coach Luis Enrique putting his arm to Joao Pedro's neck. "There was a lot of pushing and shoving. It was a situation that obviously should have been avoided, but my intention was clearly just to try to separate the players," said Luis Enrique.

Chelsea creates history

Few could have predicted the scoreline as Chelsea ended a long but remarkable season, becoming the first-ever winners of the 32-team Club World Cup after winning the UEFA Conference League and finishing fourth in the Premier League. They will also take home over $125 million in prize money, making the idea of a significantly reduced summer holiday before returning for the next season
