Sports News: Two legends of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, recently surprised everyone by announcing their retirement from Test cricket. Just before the England tour, both these players bid farewell to their Test careers through social media, after which many questions were raised. Former Indian fast bowler Karsan Ghavri has made a sensational claim in this matter that the retirement of these two players was not of their own will but was the result of the internal politics of BCCI and selectors.
Karsan Ghavri believes that Kohli could have remained in the Test team for at least two more years. He also stressed how one of India's finest cricketers was not even given a farewell by the BCCI. When asked about Kohli's sudden retirement on the Vicky Lalwani Show, Ghavri said, "It is a mystery. Kohli should have definitely continued playing for India, maybe for the next few years. But I think something forced him to retire. When he retired, the BCCI did not even give him a farewell.
BCCI Politics Behind Rohit-Virat
Karsan Ghavri also claimed during this time that Rohit and Kohli have become victims of the internal politics of the Indian team management. Ghavri said, 'This is the internal politics of BCCI, which is difficult to understand. And I think maybe these are the reasons why they retired before time. Even Rohit Sharma retired before time. He was asked to leave. It is not that he wanted to go. He wanted to stay. But the selectors and BCCI had different ideas. This is a case of some kind of petty politics.'
Let us tell you, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the T20I format after the 2024 T20 World Cup. At the same time, earlier this year, he said goodbye to Tests. Now both these players are part of ODIs only. Team India has to tour Australia in October this year, where the ODI series will be played. But according to some reports, this tour may be the last tour of Rohit and Virat. However, no official statement has come in this matter yet.
