New Delhi: Team India cricketer Tilak Varma informed the media on Wednesday that star batter Abhishek Sharma has been discharged from the hospital. Abhishek Sharma had been hospitalised due to a stomach infection.

"Abhishek (Indian batter Abhishek Sharma) has been discharged today. We will decide how he feels tomorrow and take a call on the game," Tilak Varma said at a press conference.

What is health update of Abhishek Sharma?

The Indian team will play its second match of the T20 World Cup 2026 against Namibia on Thursday. The match will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Whether Abhishek Sharma, known for his explosive batting, will play in India's match against Namibia is not yet confirmed. The team management will decide on the 25-year-old opener's availability on match day. Tilak Verma has provided an important update on Abhishek's condition. Abhishek is suffering from stomach issues and missed practice sessions due to this. The opener had to go to the hospital. Abhishek suffered a golden duck in Saturday's match against the USA.

What did Tilak Verma say?

Tilak Verma said in a press conference on Wednesday, "When we reached Delhi, he was taken to the hospital for evaluation. He was discharged today. We have one more day, so we will decide tomorrow." Abhishek's stomach infection and viral fever are a concern for the team. He was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday after being admitted for two days. Abhishek's ill health will worry the team management, including head coach Gautam Gambhir, as it could adversely impact India's plans. If Abhishek doesn't play, the Namibia match could be a golden opportunity for Sanju Samson, who is struggling with poor form, to regain his form.

What is the update regarding Jasprit Bumrah?

There's some good news for fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He looked completely fit during the practice session. He missed the USA match due to illness. Tilak said, "Bumrah is available for tomorrow's match. But we still have another day to make a final decision on the combination." In Bumrah's absence, pacer Mohammed Siraj, along with Arshdeep Singh, led India's fast bowling attack. Siraj took the most wickets, taking three. If Bumrah plays on Thursday, Siraj could be dropped from the playing eleven.

What about Washington Sundar?

All-rounder Washington Sundar has also returned to fitness. Returning from injury, Sundar bowled in the nets and later faced throwdowns, indicating his match readiness. India has a significant advantage against Namibia, whose team did not perform well against the Netherlands on the same ground. In this way, this match serves as a practice match for India before the crucial match against Pakistan on February 15.
