New Delhi: Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is set to play India's second game of the 2026 T20 World Cup against Namibia on Thursday after missing the opening game against the USA due to illness.

India and Namibia are scheduled to play in New Delhi on Thursday in the T20 World Cup.

What happen to Bumrah?

Bumrah missed the opener game against the USA on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai due to a high fever.

Later, Bumrah was replaced by Mohammed Siraj in the playing XI and he did well to pick up three wickets.

Now, Bumrah is expected to return to make it to the playing XI for the Namibia clash, as he took part in India's training in Delhi on Tuesday and bowled at full tilt.

However, it is still unclear if Bumrah will replace Arshdeep Singh or Mohammed Siraj in the line-up. As both did well against the USA.

What did Tilak Varma say?

During a pre-match press conference, India batter Tilak Varma said that  Bumrah is fit and available for the game.

"Bumrah should be back for the second game. He's absolutely fine," Tilak said in the pre-match press conference on the eve of the match.

Updating about the health of Abhishek Sharma, who had been hospitalised earlier this week after suffering a stomach infection, Tilak said that, "When we reached Delhi, he (Abhishek) had been examined. He went to the hospital for the examination. So I think he has been discharged today, and he’s doing well. We have got one more day for the game, so hopefully we’ll decide by tomorrow (Thursday) how he feels, and we’ll go with it."

What happen to Ishan Kishan?

Ishan Kishan injured his left toe during a practice session in Delhi a day before the match.

According to reports, a fast yorker from Jasprit Bumrah struck Ishan Kishan's toe in the nets, leaving him groaning in pain. The left-handed batsman was seen in considerable pain and had to stop practice for a while. It's currently unclear whether Kishan will be able to play in the match against Namibia, but this is certainly considered a major setback for the team.
