New Delhi: The worries of the Indian team have increased before the third T20 match against England. Young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi got injured during practice in the nets. During batting practice, a fast short pitch ball hit his ribs, after which he sat on the field in pain. The video of the incident went viral on social media within no time. Although according to initial information the injury is not considered serious, the team management is keeping an eye on his condition.

How did the accident happen?

During the practice session in Nottingham, throwdown specialist Raghavendra Dwivedi was continuously bowling balls to Vaibhav. One ball came further inwards than expected and hit him directly on his ribs. As soon as the ball was hit, the young batsman stopped his practice and sat in pain for some time. The support staff present nearby immediately reached him and took stock of his condition.

What is the status on fitness now?

No medical update has been issued yet by the Indian team or BCCI regarding Vaibhav's injury. Team sources say that he is being monitored as a precaution. If the pain remains less then his chances of playing in the third T20 will remain. The final decision will be taken after the fitness test before the match.

What was the performance in the debut match?

Vaibhav made his international debut in the second T20 played against England in Manchester. He showed his confidence by hitting Joffra Archer for a six on the very first ball. However, he could not prolong the innings and was stumped after scoring 14 runs in 10 balls. Despite this, his batting was discussed a lot.

Why is the third match important for India?

The third match to be held in Nottingham is very important for the Indian team, which has lost in the five-match T20 series. In case of defeat, it will be almost impossible to win the series. In such a situation, the team management would like Vaibhav to come on the field fully fit and give a strong start to the top order. The match will start at 10 pm Indian time and all eyes will once again be on this young batsman.
