AAP leaders said this reflected daily reality for citizens. The protest aimed to create public awareness.
The demonstration was led by Aam Aadmi Party Delhi unit leaders. They said symbolic actions reach people faster than speeches. Santa Claus was chosen to show pollution affects everyone. Leaders said even joy and festivals are choking. They argued children suffer the most. The protest focused on public spaces for visibility. Connaught Place was selected for maximum impact.
AAP Delhi convenor Saurabh Bharadwaj mocked the government over AQI levels. He said Santa fainted after seeing pollution data. Bharadwaj claimed only a gas mask saved him. He said Delhi’s air is poisoning residents daily. According to him people are falling sick regularly. He accused the government of inaction. He demanded accountability instead of apologies.
AAP leaders directly blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party government. They said changing numbers cannot clean air. Bharadwaj targeted Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over governance. He claimed administration is as poor as air quality. AAP said Delhi voters gave BJP one chance. According to them the government failed badly. They demanded resignations instead of excuses.
The protest also targeted Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. AAP said folded hands will not fix pollution. They accused the minister of complete failure. Leaders said hospitals are seeing pollution related illness. Doctors are raising alarms daily. Pollution is harming children severely. They demanded immediate corrective steps or resignations.
AAP leaders cited concern raised by the Supreme Court of India. They said the court asked the government to act urgently. AQI across Delhi remains in very poor category. Areas like Janpath are heavily affected. Public health warnings continue. Despite this no visible improvement is seen. The party said governance lacks seriousness.
