New Delhi: Today National Lok Adalat is being organized in Delhi, which is great relief news for those people who have been making rounds of the court for years. Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) has organized it, and today on Sunday, there is an opportunity to get the old cases settled easily and quickly. This day is golden especially for people with traffic challans.
It is running in all the major district court complexes of Delhi, like Karkardooma, Saket, Patiala House, Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Rohini and Tis Hazari. These sessions will run from 10 am to 4 pm. This event is also organized at places like High Court, Debt Recovery Tribunals, consumer forums, etc.
Many types of cases are being settled in this Lok Adalat with mutual consent. Such as traffic challan, check bounce, recovery case, motor accident claim, labor dispute, electricity-water bill disputes, family matters (but excluding divorce cases). Most civil and compoundable criminal cases can be solved here.
People troubled by traffic challans are going to get the most benefit. There is a chance to settle compoundable traffic challans pending till 30 November 2025 at lower penalties. Delhi Traffic Police and DSLSA have created around 200 special benches, and the target is to dispose of around 2 lakh challans today itself. Many times, there is a waiver of penalty or it closes at a lower amount – this is a huge relief.
If you have a pending challan or a case, carry relevant documents like a printout of the challan, downloaded e-challan, ID proof, and details of the case, if any. It would be better if you had booked the token in advance, but walk-in can also be done. Having documents makes the process faster and can avoid long lines.
Here cases are settled quickly and without much legal hassle. Cases that take years in court are settled here in hours. Saves time, saves money, and reduces stress. A decision is reached by mutual consent, which is binding on both parties like a court decree.
Lok Adalat happens from time to time, but every time the target is not on such a large scale to dispose of so many challans/cases. There is a National Lok Adalat series in 2026, but today's session is special because it was postponed in Delhi and came on March 22. For those who have been troubled for a long time, this is a good chance.
