Class 12 Student Held With Gun, Live Cartridges Inside Rohini school

Rohini: A Class 12 student was arrested for allegedly carrying a pistol and 10 live cartridges inside a private school in Delhi's Rohini district to scare his bullying classmates, the police said on Tuesday.

What happened?

On Monday, the police received a PCR call at the Aman Vihar police station regarding a student allegedly carrying a firearm in the school. The police immediately reached the spot given the sensitivity of the situation and the safety of students.

On reaching the spot, the police recovered a country-made pistol and 10 live cartridges from a class 12 student at the school.

"The school authorities on reaching the spot produced an 18-year-old student, identified as Raj Kumar, along with one country-made pistol and 10 live cartridges, which he was allegedly carrying inside the school,” an officer said.

Is the student arrested?

The student, identified as Raj Kumar was arrested and booked under the Arms Act.

The officer said that a case has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act at the Aman Vihar police station against the apprehended accused. 

How did the authorities notice?

The police said that the school's Estate Officer noticed that the student was attempting to conceal an object in a toilet on the second floor.

When the student was spotted, he left the toilet and was later apprehended near the school's stage area. 

Later during the search, a country-made pistol with 10 live cartridges were recovered from him. He was produced before the school principal, who informed the police, an official said.

“During inspection, the Estate Officer observed Raj Kumar attempting to conceal an object inside a toilet located on the second floor of the school building. When noticed, the student exited the toilet and tried to move away, but was intercepted near the stage area of the school,” the officer said.

During questioning, the accused revealed that he was carrying the weapon due to personal enmity with another student and those who bullied him, the cop said.

Was he produced before court?

The accused was produced before the Rohini Court, which sent him to two-day police custody. Further investigation is underway, the official said.
