New Delhi: On Monday morning, Delhi was seen wrapped in a blanket of dense fog. Visibility reached almost zero in many areas, due to which the speed of traffic slowed down significantly in the morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert regarding fog and has appealed to people to remain alert. According to IMD, the minimum temperature at night fell to 8.2 degrees Celsius.

The air condition worsened further

Along with the fog, the air of Delhi also reached very bad condition. The air quality index (AQI) of the capital entered the 'severe plus' category and crossed 456. An AQI of 500 was recorded in Ashok Vihar early on Monday, which is considered the most dangerous level.

Sheet of poisonous smog in many areas

In the visuals seen from Anand Vihar and Akshardham, the entire area was seen covered with poisonous smog. An AQI of 493 was recorded here, which falls in the ‘severe’ category. The situation was similar in Dwarka also, where AQI 469 was recorded.

At the same time, the air of Noida was also very bad, and the AQI there reached the 'Severe Plus' category with 454.

What does AQI mean?

  • AQI 51–100 satisfactory,
  • 101–200 to medium,
  • 201–300 bad,
  • 301–400 very bad,
  • Critical to 401–450,
  • And 451–500 is considered severe plus.

Difficult to walk on roads

In the viral video on social media, it was seen that there is dense fog in large parts of Delhi-NCR. Visibility was so low that driving became extremely dangerous. Vehicles were seen crawling at many places.

Flights were also affected

In view of the bad weather, Delhi Airport has issued an advisory for passengers. The airport administration has said that flights may be delayed due to fog. Passengers have been advised to check their flight information from the airline before going to the airport.

It was said in the advisory that flight operations may be affected due to fog, and efforts are being made to minimize the inconvenience to passengers.

Indigo also gave advice to passengers

Indigo Airlines has also asked passengers to continuously check the status of their flight on its website or mobile app. The airline said that low visibility and fog may affect the flight schedule.

Doctors' warning regarding health

Health experts have expressed concern about bad air. Speaking to PTI, an expert advised people to avoid walking or exercising in the morning. He said that one should go out of the house only when absolutely necessary and try to go out only after the sun rises during the day. Wearing a mask while going out has been said to be very important, especially for those people who have to go out due to work.
