Delhi Metro Reopens All Stations, Commuters Get Major Relief After Four Days

New Delhi: The metro stations where entry and exit services were stopped due to security reasons for the last few days in the capital Delhi, have now become completely normal. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that entry and exit facilities for passengers have been resumed at all stations on the Delhi Metro network. Along with this, metro services are also operating normally on the entire network.

Why were metro stations closed?

Keeping in mind the recent protests and security arrangements, a temporary ban was imposed on entry and exit services at 18 major metro stations in Central Delhi. Although trains continued to operate, passengers could not exit or enter these stations. Only interchange facility was available.

Which stations were most affected?

The effect of security restrictions was visible at the busiest metro stations of the capital. These included major stations like Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, Janpath, Patel Chowk, New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh and Seva Tirtha. Every day lakhs of passengers had to resort to alternative means for their journey.

What problems did the passengers face?

Due to the closure of the station, many people had to resort to buses, autos and taxis. This not only took more of their time but also increased the traffic pressure on the roads. Office-going employees, students and other daily commuters had to face inconvenience for several days continuously.

What information did DMRC give?

DMRC informed through its official social media platform that entry and exit services have now been restored at all the stations of Delhi Metro network. Passengers are being allowed to move to all stations as before and metro operations have become completely normal.

What changed after the station opened?

As soon as the stations opened, normal traffic started again at busy stations like Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House and New Delhi. Ticket counters and AFC gates started operating as before. Many passengers expressed relief as now they will not have to face problems like extra travel expenses and walking long distances.

What is the relief for the passengers now?

After the security restrictions are lifted, it is expected that the traffic pressure on the roads of Delhi will also reduce. Lakhs of people traveling by metro every day will now be able to complete their journey like before without any additional hassle. DMRC has also appealed to the passengers to keep an eye on the official updates during the journey and follow the safety rules.
