Police Conduct Mega Patrol Drive in Outer District; 564 Personnel Deployed

New Delhi: To curb crime and instil a sense of security among the public, the police conducted a massive patrol operation across Delhi's Outer District on Sunday, covering areas ranging from streets and parks to sensitive zones. Carried out under the supervision of Outer District DCP Vikram Singh, the special drive saw a heavy police presence across various parts of the district. A total of 564 police personnel, including 111 from the Outer District force, were deployed for the operation.

During the drive, 48 motorcycle patrol teams maintained continuous surveillance across different areas. Personnel thoroughly inspected 106 parks, 22 sensitive hotspots, and 22 'dark spot' hotspots. Special attention was paid to public spaces and areas where there was a perceived risk of crime or a need for heightened police presence.

Police Keep a Watch on Known Offenders

The police also checked 148 known offenders—classified as 'Bad Characters' (BCs)—within the district. In addition to monitoring suspicious activities, action was taken against violations affecting public safety and traffic discipline. Cracking down on traffic rule violators, 112 challans were issued for offences such as triple-riding and driving against the flow of traffic.

Furthermore, action was taken against 25 individuals under Sections 126/170 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Two cases of drunk driving were detected, and legal proceedings were initiated in accordance with the law. Strict enforcement was also observed regarding excise regulations; action was taken against 71 individuals under Sections 40A and 40B of the Excise Act. In this manner, over 190 enforcement and preventive actions were taken during the campaign.

A message to criminals: Escaping the police's radar is difficult

Police officials state that the objective of such intensive patrolling is not merely to take enforcement action but to nip the possibility of crime in the bud. Efforts are being made to exert pressure on anti-social elements through a continuous police presence in sensitive areas, the screening of miscreants, and action against traffic violators. The Outer District Police clarified that surveillance in public spaces, parks, dimly lit areas, and sensitive zones will continue to be strengthened. The core of the police strategy is visible policing, crime prevention, immediate monitoring of suspicious activities, and rapid response when required.
