New Delhi: Alongside strengthening security arrangements in the capital, the Delhi Police is now reaching out directly to the public to foster awareness and dialogue. As part of this effort, a special community awareness programme was organised at Coronation Park in the North-West district. The event disseminated vital information regarding safety, women's empowerment, cybercrime prevention, road safety, and police operations.
Held under the supervision of DCP (North-West) Neha Yadav, the event was marked by great enthusiasm. The Delhi Police women's brass band captivated the audience with a brilliant performance. The combination of police uniforms, musical melodies, and direct interaction with the public conveyed the message of safety in a unique and engaging manner.
A dedicated awareness session on women's safety and self-defence was conducted. Police officers informed women and other participants about safety measures and introduced them to basic self-defence techniques. Women were educated on how to seek police assistance during emergencies and how to utilise available safety resources.
A key highlight of the event was the interaction between the Delhi Police SWAT team and ordinary citizens. Attendees were introduced to the role of the SWAT team and various aspects of the police's security apparatus. While answering citizens' questions, officers emphasised the importance of strengthening trust and cooperation between the police and the public.
A special awareness session on road safety was also organised. The public was encouraged to adopt safe traffic habits, exercise caution on the road, and adhere to traffic regulations as responsible citizens. The Delhi Traffic Police’s road safety education vehicle was also present at the event, serving as a medium to disseminate information regarding road safety to the public.
In light of the rising incidence of cybercrime in the digital age, personnel from the cyber police station conducted an awareness session. Practical measures to guard against online scams, digital fraud, and cybercrimes were shared. People were advised to remain vigilant while using digital platforms and online services and to adopt necessary precautions to avoid suspicious activities.
A public relations vehicle was deployed at the venue to inform the public about Delhi Police’s activities and services. Equipped with audio-visual facilities, this mobile unit screened video clips highlighting various Delhi Police services and operations. Additionally, awareness messages regarding road safety were displayed to the audience.
Towards the conclusion of the event, police officers engaged in direct interaction with women and children. Their questions and concerns regarding safety were addressed, and information was provided about available police assistance and safety measures. The objective of this interaction was to bridge the gap between the police and the public and to ensure easy access to police help when needed. Through the ‘We Care’ initiative, the Delhi Police sought to convey that policing is not limited to taking action after a crime occurs; rather, crime prevention—fostered through awareness, dialogue, cooperation, and trust—is a vital component of their role.
