New Delhi: In view of the proposed 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in the capital Delhi on Friday, October 16, changes have been made in the traffic system. In view of this demonstration to be held in the Central Park of Connaught Place, Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory. Under this, traffic diversion is likely to be implemented on 21 major roads and traffic points of Central Delhi from 3 pm onwards. In such a situation, if you are planning to travel somewhere in Delhi on Friday, then definitely check the traffic update before leaving home.
Delhi Traffic Police has advised people to avoid several major routes and use alternative routes. The list of affected routes and traffic points includes:
Drivers passing through these areas have been advised to allow extra time during their journey. According to the instructions issued by the police, traffic can be diverted to other routes if needed.
Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to people to plan their journey in advance and use public transport if possible. People visiting Connaught Place and nearby busy areas should consider the Metro or other public transport options.
Apart from this, the drivers have been asked to follow the instructions of the traffic police and be ready to change the route as per the advice of the police personnel deployed at the spot. Information has been given that the diversion will come into effect from 3 pm.
CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has appealed to the people to reach the Central Park of Connaught Place at 5 pm on Friday with the national flag. The party has given a call to join the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march through social media and press conferences.
At the same time, Delhi Police has appealed to the people to stay away from the proposed march, citing the prohibitory orders imposed in Connaught Place and surrounding areas. The police have also indicated that in accordance with the rules, a limited number of people may be considered at a suitable place to hoist the national flag and sing the national anthem.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has informed Delhi Police that Central Park will remain closed on October 16 and 17 due to administrative reasons. The council has also requested to stop unauthorized entry into the park and ensure security arrangements.
The CJP's proposed march is linked to the demand for removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and protest against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. There is a situation of tension between the administration and the organisers regarding the programme.
At present, the emphasis of Delhi Police is on maintaining law and order and keeping the traffic flowing smoothly. It is important for people traveling to Central Delhi to check the latest traffic advisories before leaving and allow extra time to avoid any inconvenience.
